Meet the Director

/public/images/carolina_bio.jpgOur founder and director, Carolina Diaz-Silva, a native of Peru, has lived in St. Louis for over twenty years. She is a parent to a multilingual child and has extensive experience in the field of education. Carolina earned her undergraduate degrees in Education and Spanish from UMSL, and began her career teaching Spanish to middle school students at MICDS. After pursuing her Master’s degree in Spanish at Washington University, she joined the Romance Languages Department. As a faculty member of the University she taught Spanish, coordinated language programs, and trained teaching assistants.

Carolina later pursued an MBA, also from Washington University. She dedicated her second year in the program to developing the plan for International Schoolhouse, and founded the school promptly after graduation in 2009 with one classroom and 10 students. Today, International Schoolhouse has more than 100 students and its very own 15,000 square foot building in Richmond Heights. The growth the school has seen over the past three years is a testament to how pleased our current families are with the education their children are receiving.

Carolina understands first-hand the importance of building cross-cultural bridges- She has lived and worked on three continents, speaks four languages, and has travelled extensively around the world.  Carolina’s passion and expertise will ensure that International Schoolhouse provides a meaningful experience for every family in our program.
